Monologue
A monologue is a great way to tell a personal story as it can show the character's emotions during the telling of their story, it also creates a close relationship between the actor and the audience and is good for creating atmospheres. However, this can be less effective when their a multiple characters with their own viewpoint of the story and will get boring if the audience had five people giving long monologues on the same story with nothing to break it up.
Dance
Dance can quickly show the story and portray an emotion through the song played with the dance which can be really effective, however this doesn't build a strong relationship with the audience and can't get as emotional response than a monologue can.
Flashbacks and Flash-forwards
This is a brilliant way to reveal parts of the story when they will be most effective and can be used to create plot twists and change opinions of the characters. However if the story being told is quite simple then flashbacks and flash-forwards can be made redundant.
Split Screen
This is effective to show two parts of the story that happen at the same time at the same time and like flashbacks and flash-forwards can be used for plot twists. However, again like flashbacks and flash-forwards they can be made redundant if the story is simple or doesn't follow more than one character.
Narration
Is an easy way to tell a story and tell the emotions and reactions of each character, it also gets the audience to feel involved with the story as it breaks the forth wall. But for people how come to see a performance to experience the story being told the story sort of defeats the purpose of it.
