Double (Joe) - 5th
This week we went over our Roxane dance and ran what we had, I think it looked good but was very short and only had about four story telling techniques. So since we had multiple movement pieces we changed one to be a regular scene to bring our story telling techniques up to five. To end the story we also added the siren piece that me and Dan created a few weeks back but adapted it to include the girls as actual sirens, all these added parts made our performance a whopping 8 1/2 minutes long, it needs to be 20 minutes minimum. So I think that one way we can add to our performance is that I can add a speech to begin with to set the stage for the wedding about what is going on and how the people met, I can also add a speech about the curse and what it intails. I also think that during the siren bit at the end, I shouldn't be included on the ship, I should be narrating the last bit and explain what is happening so I stay as the role of the narrator and not become a character suddenly.

Double (Joe)- 21st
Today Joe decided that we aren't going to get the entire Jason story complete by the end of term, so we are going to create our own stories based off parts of Jason. I feel this is better because it gives us four weeks to create our own story and get a lot more ideas rolling than us trying to come up with a way to tell someone else story.
The first part of Jason we wanted to work with was the story of Cyzicus and the feints with six arms. I felt the best way to create a story from it was to do an origins story (where they came from) this way we can fabricate an entire story.
The second part we used was the sirens, and again an origin story would be good for the same reason. We were then put into two groups and my group is doing the sirens. Our initial thought is that there are women who killed their husbands, for various reasons and are cursed and bound to the sea for ever. So we discussed ideas for why they murderd their men and the best idea is that on man was an abusive husband and the other cheats on his wife. However, to thicken the plot we thought that the man who cheats actually rapes the wife being abused as this will end the need for a third woman to be the cheatie and builds a relationship between the four characters. I like this story as it an entertaining story but also lies a little message for the year sevens (our audience) to treat their partners right and with respect.
We first thought that I can narrate what is happening, giving us our first story telling technique, and then the others could perform through movement, the different stories, giving us our second story telling technique. We also developed another movement piece, which shows me sort of controlling the men in what they are doing, so we convey that I am not just the narrator I am also a character in the story with some power.
